    Fencing Travels to Brandeis on Sunday

    Fencing Travels to Brandeis on Sunday

    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Fencing will compete in its final meet of 2025, when it travels to Brandeis for the Carla Mae Richards Invitational, which begins at 9:00 a.m.

    The Eagles went a combined 8-4 last year, with both teams posting 4-2 records. 

    On the Men’s side, the Eagles earned victories over Drew University, Lawrence University, St. John’s University, and Cornell, while falling to Penn State University and Yale University. Men’s Sabre led the way for BC, finishing with a perfect 6-0 record. Men’s Foil finished 5-1, while Men’s Epee compiled a 3-3 record. Men’s Sabre and Men’s Foil played a big part in a 26-1 Eagles win over Drew University by earning 9-0 victories. Men’s Foil followed up with another 9-0 victory against Cornell, which led the Eagles to an 18-9 win over the Big Red. 

    On the Women’s side, BC defeated Drew University, Lawrence University, Penn State University, and Cornell, and lost to St. John’s University and Yale University. The women’s Foil finished 5-1 overall, including two 9-0 victories over Drew University and Lawrence University to help the Eagles win. Women’s Epee earned a 4-2 record and defeated Drew University’s Epee team 9-0. Women’s Sabre finished the invitational with an even 3-3 record. The Sabre team led the Eagles to a 24-3 victory over Lawrence with a 9-0 weapon victory. 

    Last Time Out

    BC last competed before Thanksgiving, when they traveled to Harvard for the Beanpot, then hosted the first-ever Syd Fadner Invitational. 

    At the Beanpot, the men’s side finished the night with a 2-1 overall record, defeating Brandeis 16-11 in the opening round and MIT 18-9 in round two. The Eagles fell to Harvard 13-14 in the final round. ​On the women’s side, the Eagles completed the night with a 2-1 overall record. Boston College defeated Brandeis 18-9 in round one and MIT 17-10 in the second round, while falling to Harvard 18-9 in the third and final round. 

    At the Syd Fadner, ​the men’s lone competition came against Wheaton, whom they defeated 23-4, with men’s Epee and saber dropping only one match each. ​On the women’s side, the Eagles completed the night with a 2-1 overall record. Boston College defeated Wheaton 17-1 in round one and Temple 17-10 in the third round, while falling to Wellesley 13-14 in the middle round. The win over Temple is the women’s first win over Temple in program history.
