The 2025 Ohio high school girls soccer season is in the books, and All-State teams are out.
Cleveland.com contacted girls soccer coaches across the state and asked them to fill out a survey requesting information about their top players.
We started by featuring the top forwards highlighted by coaches in those surveys, followed by the best midfielders. Now it’s the top goalkeepers’ turn.
If you are an Ohio high school girls soccer coach who did not receive the survey, email mswanson@advancelocal.com. At the bottom is a list of the All-State goalkeepers in all divisions in 2025.
TOP GOALKEEPERS, AS HIGHLIGHTED BY COACHES
Kaity Carr, Anthony Wayne, Senior
A University of Findlay commit, Carr finished her senior season with 12 shutouts and over 100 saves for the Division II state champs. Coach Lori Williams described her as a “vocal leader in the back, unbelievable shot stopper, great distributor of the ball.”
Katherine Garrett, Bexley, Sophomore
Garrett won 12 games this season, making 57 saves and posting 10 shutouts with a goals-against average of 1.12 per game. “Katherine really stepped up this season as our full-time goalie,” coach Scott James said. “She played outstanding in every game, and we counted on her in several of the games to keep us in them. Her best game was definitely against Clear Fork, where she made several important saves to help us win the game.”
Grace Gettig, Kenston, Senior
Gettig finished her senior season with 12 wins, eight shutouts and 102 saves. “On top of Grace’s standout senior season, she also was a teacher, as she trained our upcoming freshman goalkeepers all season and contributed greatly to her young teammates’ future success, work ethic and game development,” coach Eric Sway said. “Grace is a true legend of Kenston High School goalkeepers — going to miss her so much.”
Mackenzi Griffin, Brush, Junior
A three-year starter, Griffin finished her freshman year with 75 saves, then had 114 as a sophomore. “Mackenzi had 89 saves this year and worked on her punting skills,” coach Jesse Blasier said.
Ava Kachmarik, Eastwood, Junior
Kachmarik began the season as a starting outside midfielder but developed into a standout goalkeeper. She recorded 87 saves out of 106 shots on goal for a save percentage of 82% and six shutouts. “She was a leader on our team in the way that she put her team ahead of herself and embraced a role that nobody expected her to have this fall,” coach Julie Cross said.
Lina McCarthy, Archbishop Hoban, Junior
McCarthy is a three-year varsity player who started in goal for the first time this season. She had big shoes to fill in replacing All-State keeper Gracie Brink and stepped up big time, finishing with nine shutouts and allowing just 21 goals in 20 games.
Leah Peter, Anderson, Junior
Peter started her soccer career as a field player but converted to goalkeeper as a freshman. She finished with eight shutouts this season. “She has embraced the change and excelled,” coach Andy Boyd said.
Jazlyn Rayl, Vermilion, Sophomore
Rayl is a standout basketball player who was one of the surprises of the season on the pitch. She “came in never playing goalie, and by the end of the season she kept us in so many games,” coach Katie Hayden said.
Madelyn Spencer, Mayfield, Junior
Spencer helped anchor a defense that recorded 14 clean sheets, breaking the program’s single-season record. “Madelyn is an incredibly reliable and composed goalkeeper who played a critical role in one of the strongest defensive seasons in Mayfield history,” coach Ivica Miljak said. “Her shot-stopping ability, command of the box, and consistency under pressure were essential to a defensive unit that became the foundation of our team’s success.”
