    Johnson Leads Day One at Nikke Franke Classic

    PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Boston College Women’s Fencing team opened its season by competing at the 2025 Coach Nikki Franke Classic preseason tournament at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University.

    The Coach Nikki Franke Classic is a preseason tournament where many of the top teams from across the country compete to prepare for the upcoming season. The meet began on Saturday with the Women’s events, and wrapped up on Sunday with the Men’s events.

    Lydia Johnson was the top finisher for the women, placing second overall in the sabre. Alissa Khan, Rachel Buhay, and Valeria Sourimto all finished in the top 20. Sela Feig came in 28th, Chase Callahan was 40th, and Isabella Zielinski tied for 56th.

    Julia Babiac (7th) and Cameron Cho (8th) both finished top-10 in the foil. Isabella Paulus and Taylor Sartori finished 15th and 26th to round out the Eagles, who competed in the foil.

    In the epee, Ginevra Giordano was the top finisher, placing 13th. Laura McCutchen, Talluah Nguyen, and Cynthia Ming also competed in the epee and finished 16th, 19th, and 35th, respectively.

    Up next: The Eagles will wrap up their time at the Nikke Franke Classic with the men’s event tomorrow, which begins at 8 a.m.
