    World Cup qualifiers: Blue Sharks on the verge of making history

    Cape Verde will play a crucial match tomorrow, Wednesday, against Libya as part of the penultimate ninth matchday in Group D of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

    The “Blue Sharks” are aiming for victory to secure their first-ever qualification for the finals, having collected 19 points from their previous eight matches.

    Currently, Cape Verde tops Group D with 19 points, followed by Cameroon (15 points), Libya (14 points), and Angola (10 points). Mauritius and Eswatini round out the standings with 5 and 2 points respectively.

    The match will be played tomorrow, Wednesday, at the June 11 Stadium in Tripoli, at 13:00 GMT.

    Broadcast channels

    The game will be broadcast on BeIN Sports for the Middle East and North Africa, as well as on CANAL+ Afrique and SuperSport for the rest of the continent.

    In previous meetings between Libya and Cape Verde, Libya has one win to two defeats, the most recent coming in June 2024.
