The New England Patriots are well positioned to make a run at the NFL playoffs this season.

Upcoming games against the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns will give the Patriots a great chance to improve their record to 5-2 and be in the thick of the playoff picture around the trade deadline. That is why Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay believes there is a trade to be made with the Philadelphia Eagles to push New England into true contender territory.

Kay has proposed a trade between the two teams that would send Eagles receiver A.J. Brown to the Patriots in exchange for a second-round pick in next year’s draft as well as a second-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

“With the Eagles still managing to get off to a 4-0 start despite Brown’s shortcomings, they may be amenable to dealing him to New England,” Kay wrote. “His services won’t come cheap, but the Pats shouldn’t hesitate to create a standout, veteran-laden receiving corps led by Diggs and Brown.”

Brown certainly has struggled this season, as he’s totaled just 151 receiving yards and one touchdown in the first four games this season. Rumors have swirled since the opening week of a trade involving Brown and that may become more likely with continued struggles.

A trade for a receiver of Brown’s caliber for New England would certainly be the type of move necessary in getting the Patriots back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2021 season.
